The data items shown in the AKG Rating Portal, which will vary in their inclusion by sector and in some cases may also vary within sectors according to entity type, are as follows:
Item | Description |
---|---|
Brand |
The brand is the name that the organisation uses to identify itself generally. It is not in itself rated, and a number of differently rated companies could share use of a brand. |
Company |
This is the 'corporate entity' that is rated. It may or may not share a similar name to the brand which it operates under. |
Open/Closed to New Business |
This indicates whether the company is actively marketing 'products' to new customers. Companies that are closed and are in effect just focusing on managing previously gathered business after displaying different characteristics from those that are actively seeking new sales flows. Companies that only write increments on existing policies and/or vesting annuity and/or only accept new members on existing pension schemes are treated as 'closed' for this purpose. |
Ownership |
The ultimate owner of the company (or the majority owner if there is more than one owner). For UK registered companies, this information is disclosed in the company's statutory accounts. For overseas owners, the country of domicile is also shown. Shows 'Mutual' for a mutual company or for a friendly society. |
Company Established |
The year that the current corporate entity started operating, which is usually the year of incorporation. |
Item | Description |

Required Minimum Margin Coverage Ratio |
The capital available to meet the company's minimum solvency margin requirements, divided by its minimum solvency margin requirements, expressed as a percentage. |
